Launched in March 2005 in conjunction with the signing of the Devon, Plymouth and Torbay Declaration on Climate Change and Fuel Poverty, DSEN is a partnership of organisations working towards a common goal – promoting the use of sustainable energy and working together to combat climate change and fuel poverty.

To make this partnership practical and effective, it operates through a steering group and four sub groups: Business, Renewable Energy, Domestic Energy & Health and the Public Sector.

Each group meets once a quarter and is working to an action plan which has been developed by the partnership of organisations. Summary action plans and further information can be viewed on the sub group pages.

Please note: The current DSEN structure is undergoing a review process and is likely to change in the forthcoming months. All partners will be consulted before any decisions are made and the new structure will be published on these pages once it is decided.

The secretariat for DSEN is undertaken by Westcountry Energy Action

DSEN was originally recommended by the Renewable Energy and Energy Reduction Task Group and is an objective within the Devon Renewable Energy Strategy and Action Plan (Click to download)

DSEN Nuclear Statement

DSEN recognises that Nuclear power is currently an important source of low carbon electricity in the UK and could in the future make a significant contribution to meeting the Government energy policy goals. However as nuclear power is dealt with at a national level and is very much a political issue in terms of safety, cost and security, DSEN as a non political organisation, does not see that it has a role to play in promoting its use.
